Sitting On A Cloud

23 Jun 2009 In: Uncategorized

Ok, so I mentioned a chair in my last post.  This chair is the most wonderful thing in the world.  It all started with the inland hurricane in So IL.  Our power went off for about a week and Ethan was about 5 weeks old so we packed up and moved to the Burg.  While staying at my mom and dad’s house I would rock and nurse Ethan in a chair in their office.  This chair is like sitting on a cloud.  I didn’t mind getting up in the middle of the night with Ethan because I would find myself so comfortable in this chair that I would even fall asleep holding him.  I wanted to go back home, but was really going to miss this chair.  Sounds crazy huhhh.  I do have a rocking chair at my house, but it doesn’t even compare to this chair.  It is the Natuzzi line of furniture and if you haven’t heard of it, it is worth looking into.  It doesn’t look like one of those ugly lazy boy chairs; it is actually kind of modern looking.  It rocks, swivels, and even turns 360 degrees.

Well, jokingly I said something about wanting to take the chair home with me.  What do you know, my dad shows up about a week later with the chair in tow.  He carried it in and I’ve been enjoying it ever since.  I really think my dad misses his comfy chair, but wanted me to have it during this stage in Ethan’s life when rocking is a must.  I love that chair and yes dad, I will return it someday (maybe wink wink).  Thanks for being such a great dad and letting me use/have the Natuzzi, I will take good care of this fabulous chair!  I think it was meant to be, if you notice my name is in the chair name.  Here I am rocking my sweet baby to sleep.  My husband enjoys the chair too, as you can see.E-ManE-Man 063

I know I’m a few days late posting this pic, but better late than never.  During Ethan’s two-week photo shoot, Papa John happened to make an appearance.  We got the opportunity to get him in on some of the pics.  I love this one! Just wanted to let my dad know how much he is appreciated and loved by David, Ethan, and I.  Happy Father’s Day Dad!  Oh yea, THE CHAIR ROCKS!!!!!!  Just one of the many reasons I love my daddy:)

Took Ethan to get his 2 month check up yesterday.  He received two immunizations.  It took two nurses to do the shots simultaneously.  David was filling out and signing some paper work, while I held and rubbed on Emans head.  They held his legs and as I described to David it was like they had “loaded guns”.  They looked at each other and said, “Ready” then poked him with the shots.  He screamed like I had never heard before and then produced more tears than I’ve ever seen!  I picked him up and comforted him immediately after.  He stopped crying after a few seconds and then I nursed him for about five minutes before we left.  Yes, I did cry a few tears because he was so upset and helpless.  I felt sorry for the nurses who have to do this all the time.  It made me think of Syd and wondered how she does it.  The nurses informed me that this age was nothing compared to the toddlers who can anticipate what is coming and associate their faces with the shot.   We then made an appointment for his 4 month shots…and that was a little much to take!  I, as any mom, am not looking forward to this.

                                                              That Damn Shelf

The Damn ShelfOK, I’m jealous of a shelf.  Ethan has discovered a shelf in our house and it is obvious that it is the best thing since sliced bread.  If I am holding him, his eyes immediately go straight to the shelf.  I will try to get his attention, but NOOOOO, he is to interested in that damn shelf to even take one peek at his momma.  He has even started talking to the shelf….coooing, ahhhhing, and saying more than I have heard out of him ever.  He smiles at it and even laughs at the shelf.  If I take him up close to the shelf to check it out more, he wants nothing to do with it.  If I walk away, about 5-10 feet, he can’t get enough of it.  It is funny to watch him.  He loves a very simple smiley face on his baby Einstein floor mat so I am wondering if it looks like a giant smiley face to him.  I will never know, but one thing is for sure……… he is totally happy and content looking at that damn shelf. :)

I thought I would show how Ethan is growing like a weed these days.  I usually take a pic in his bouncy seat every week.  I might have missed a couple but I think the first pic is at about 1 week old.  The other picture is, of course, from this morning and he is 10 weeks old.  I guess I know he is growing fast, but when you are with someone each day the growth is not as apparent as it is to someone who hasn’t seen him in a while.  Holey Moley…..How he has grown!  Some people say he looks like me and others comment on how he looks like daddy.  I think he is a good mix of both, as he grows his looks have been changing slightly.  He has been giving us more facial expressions lately and cooing quiet a bit at his smiley face and airplanes.  He also is pretty fond of his momma…..giving me BIG smiles in the morning when I pick him up.  He also loves to stand straight up, so I’m hoping his neck is strong enough in a couple of weeks to try out the Jumperoo.  I think he will love it.

Eman has taken over my life…in a great way.  I hope I don’t bore you with this blog as it will probably be mostly about the growth and development of my son.  I am so consumed right now with him, that there is not much else going on in my life.  I’m sure as time progresses I will find a balance between my life with the family and my life with friends.  It is a balancing act that I have not mastered yet.  Well, when you are breastfeeding it is almost impossible to plan a day away.  My bff keeps asking me to come out on the boat for the day and I keep saying that it sounds impossible to do.  First I wouldn’t be caught dead on the lake in a bathing suit yet, second I really can’t drink because I’m breastfeeding, and third I would have to pump on the boat.  Can you just see me pumping on a speed boat…..yea right!  I am just happy at home where I have everything I need and can lounge around in my PJ’s while taking care of Eman.  Wow…I have just been typing away and it feels good to just blab about things.  Even if this is the most boring blog on the net I think it will be good for me to do and it will keep the family up to speed with my life:)

                                                              Hello world!

                                                              13 Jun 2009 In: Uncategorized

Ok, I did it!  I have joined the blogging world.  I really don’t know what to say because it is late and I’m tired from the day.  I mowed the lawn, cleaned out the garage, scooted over to the pool, and then came home to grill out.  Ethan was a good baby; he only got fussy for about ten minutes (which is a far cry from his four hour stint a few nights ago). He did sleep six hours straight last night!

I don’t know how often I will be blogging, but I have started.  I love reading Erin and Sydney’s blogs, so they have really inspired me to do this.  It helps me to keep in touch with my sisters even when I feel like they are a world away.  I do read and check their blogs religiously, always anticipating what they have been doing.  Syd’s LA life is fascinating and I must say I am jealous at times.  Erin’s blogs are usually focused on the kiddos, which is awesome since I rarely see them in person.  Although the last blog was about a winning bottle of wine:)  Congrats on the win Erin.  So you girls are the reason I am blogging and I thank you for that.

                                                              I AM A BLOGGER!  Yes….. I have joined blogland!

David and I met about 12 years ago, at college, and have been together ever since. We married in 2005. He is a Financial Representative and I am a Jr. High Science Teacher.

We just had our first bouncing baby boy in April. Our family lives in Southern Illinois, where we have resided all of our lives.
We are extremely excited to share a little piece of our lives with all our family and friends.
